I fucking love undertale

This is my favorite video game. I have other favorite video games but this one will always be on top for how important it's been for the trajectory of my entire life. This game came out during the most formative period of my life, I had turned 11 the month before. I had just entered middle school. Some of the worst things I've ever seen and heard in my life happened around then. I was being told by people closest to me that because I did not yet understand how being "good" or "bad" worked, that I was doomed to be "bad" and there was nothing I could do about it, which was kind of terrifying. I very desperately wanted to be good, but I wasn't sure if that was at all possible for me. However! There was this video game! The video game all about how your choices are important and trying to do good through kindness is an option that you will always have, and it is always worth it to choose to be kind to both yourself and others. Even if it doesn't feel like it, the option will always be there. Undertale was the one thing at the time that told me very clearly how to offer kindness, and told me that it was still worth it to try to be as good as I could be. I would be such a wildly different person if Undertale didn't exist, I think.
It's a game that makes giving up feel out of the question, in a good way. It's a reminder to me why I am still here. Where there is kindness there is hope. I have a circle of friends now that have told me I am good. I have trouble believing it at times, but they are the kindest and most honest people I've ever known. As much as I keep hurting I keep hoping as well. Reaching for that kindness and extending it forward, there will be good things. I want there to be good things for everyone.
I was running around the community on the very internet early on! At first as a kid, my use of the internet was for games, youtube, and google plus and that was about it. I ended up making a tumblr account specifically to engage with Undertale fan work and share my own, and I befriended some really cool people this way! I've lost contact with them over the years, but I sincerely wish them well. I still tend to reread the same comics and watch the same dubs from way back because I'm still so fond of them. I love so much of what the community has made all this time.

Papyrus is my favorite Undertale character, and one of my favorite characters ever. His unwavering support of others and belief in good means a lot to me. I associate him with close friends and reasons to have hope in general, he's one of the few characters that for me is a source of infinite joy, basically. Papyrus reminds me to be hopeful when it feels really hard to be, as silly as that may sound to say about a fictional character. I don'tt care though.
AUs, SKELETONS

I got really involved with fan works and comics and AUs and the entire multiverse really early on and it's all stuck with me now. I hung out in the Chara multiverse community on Tumblr a lot, it was fun. I don't know when my interest shifted moreso on the skeletons but there is a lot of space in my brain dedicated to theories about Sans and Papyrus and Gaster and their relationship and everybody's different takes on it. IT'S A LOT...I personally like to think of Gaster as a "good dad lost to science" type of character, but I find other peoples ideas interesting too. I like good dad Gaster as much as I like cryptic and scary Gaster (which is a lot). The creativity of each person in the Undertale community is something that's always made me really happy and inspired!!! I love being here!!! I find a lot of AUs very interesting, though I'm certainly not knowledgable on every single one. My favorites are horrortale by sour-apple studios, playbacktale by linssins, and aftertale by crayon queen!! I love Geno and other variations of him (Error and Fatal Error) very much.

FAVORITE FAN WORKS / AUs AND WHERE YOU CAN FIND THEM

Horrortale by sour-apple studios: a post neutral run universe where undyne takes the throne, the underground runs out of food and resources and takes to eating humans...yeah comic here!
Playbacktale by linssins: set before the games plot, papyrus decides to let flowey borrow a human soul. that doesn't work out lol comic here!
Aftertale by crayon queen: As the world is being reset, sans finds frisk and another him (referred to as Geno) waiting in the save screen to talk to him. This one is kind of complicated I don't know how to describe it but I very like it. comic here!
Ask Error!Sans: this was a blog run by crayon queen where you could ask Error questions! it's not being continued anymore, but crayon queen has posted about the remaining story there was going to be and additional info about error. blog here!
a Fatal_Error has Occurred by xedramon: this is Fatal Error's backstory basically, how he was created after a fight between Error and Geno. kind of confusing, and I haven't read all of it myself. but I like fatal error :3 comic here!
Inktale by comyet: this refers to the backstory comic for Ink and how he comes from an unfinished forgotten AU that he's since escaped from. comic here!
Handplates by zarla: of course I put this here. this is a comic about sans and papyrus's backstory as clones made and experimented on by gaster. known for being fucked up and sad, but it's really good agh. I like zarla's art style a lot comic here!
Darker Yet Darker by sansybones: THIS IS ONE OF IF NOT MY FAVORITE FAN WORK something about it idk it's very dear to me. a backstory comic about sans, his role as gaster's creation and assistant, and how he react to gaster's decisions. there's also a followup comic about papyrus titled the Second Son of Gaster! I WANTED THE PHYSICAL COPYS OF THESE SO BAD FUUCKKK. Darker Yet Darker here!
Underverse by jakei95: ahhhh the thing ahhhhh. an entire animated series about alternate sanses beating each other up LOL it's awesome I really like it. watching the quality of this series increase over time has been fucking insane also. Jakei is also the creator of Xtale, which is an AU significant to underverse. you can find it's series and comic on her youtube channel along with underverse watch it here!
Ask Frisk and Company by trashqueen: I haven't checked on this one in ages but when I used to keep up with this blog insannneely I really liked the official dub. takes place post-pacifist route and follows frisk and the rest of the main cast living together. quite fun! blog here!
man-who-speaks-in-hands by rei: this is a gaster askblog I found after a collab arc between them and ask frisk and company. I love this version of gaster a lot he's very kind and a really good dad GRAHHHH. RAHHHHH blog here!

this isn't completed in the slightest I've engaged with so much over the span of years and years and I can't remember everything right now but I'll add more later.
